Evaluation of Unit X

This unit has taught me to be more open minded to use other processes within my work such as digital. It has allowed me to learn new skills digitally as well as know more how to collaborate as a goup and with other areas outside of TIP.

I feel this project has been really successful overall. We have worked well together and been influenced by talks from others and thorough research. We have been in contact with the dance society and used a dancer in our final outcome.

We responded well to the chosen theme of 'patchwork Manchester'. Firstly we all did seperate research, drawings and samples and came together as a group to see how it all worked together. My drawings of deansgate worked well however my knits did not, so I decided to carry on with my drawings. These worked better as they have alot of detail/pattern and so worked better in the projection.

We chose to do a projection as its an effective way to show all our work brought together (patchwork) and it fits in with our idea of future fashions as changeable patterns on clothing may happen in the future. We wanted our video to show the change in cultures within Manchester as well as being bright, futuristic and high in energy to indicate fashion in the future. I believe that we have successfully achieved this.

I think if we planned more time to film to allow trial and error then the project would have worked more smoothly. We underestimated how long it would take to get all the equipment set up and get a piece of film that we were happy with. Next time I use digital I will allow more time for this, and plan ahead more.

I personally would have liked to include much more knit in this project as this is something that I want to specialise in, however it was important for me to be pushed out of my comfort zone in this project. I achieved something digitally that has worked really well and I wouldnt have known how to do it before this project.
